Good bang for the buck

Price is reasonable and product quality is good. 4 inch diameter fish eye lens (would have preferred 5" minimum) provide clarity up to 9 inches focal point and has distortion on the sides but works well for it's intended purpose when moved directly in front of a person's face. Mine is black and says max 15 watts CFL. It's got reflective metal around the bulb area so plastic doesn't get brittle from heat and use. The desktop mount base is plastic, the lamp head is plastic which is fine to make the unit lighter, and the pivot arm is metal. A weak part is the plastic linkage connecting the head to the arm. The linkage is squeezed by a bolt to hold the head at a certain viewing position. After extended pressure from use, the plastic linkage may wear. All the arm joint bolts and the on/off switch are big and easy to operate. I wrapped duct tape around the arm end that slides into the plastic mount because there was too much play there.
Good starter lamp

It has a low price tag, but is it not cheap. It takes some practice to use, but so do the more expensive ones. I use it to follow fine lines on projects I work on and it does an excellent job. The magnifier is great and the light, once you find the best place for it lights up the area clearly. Don't need the magnifier just raise it out of the way. If it is not what you wanted your only out $20 not $55.
