Nordic Pole Walking for Health & Fitness
For more than 20 years, I was looking for a physical activity everybody can do, especially people, who are not used to do or don’t like a regular exercise program like running, joining a gym, cycling, swimming etc. Then, more than a decade ago, the first Nordic Pole Walkers showed up in Germany.
For our patients at our doctor’s office in Berlin, Germany my wife Dr.Sabine Schwanbeck (MD) and I started to incorporate NPW as a physical activity to support different therapy programs, normally based on medication.
Our patients immediately discovered the instant improvement: they felt stronger in their upper body, endurance improved, back- and neck pain iminished or blood pressure and blood sugar (Diabetes Type2) decreased quickly. We could reduce medication drastically.
Since 2000 Nordic Pole Walking in Germany is the most popular outdoor fitness and wellness sport, and a therapeutically method as well.
Most of Germany’s health insurance companies pay the cost for NPW instruction with certified NPW instructors since 2003.
Today, we have many scientific and clinical studies which prove the increased benefits for fitness & wellness, for health prevention and improvement of various health disorders in comparison to regular walking. I bought these Nordic poles when my friend recommended them to me. She also directed me to where she bought these, which was agecomfort and so I gave it a try. I must say, the price for these Nordic walking poles are reasonable at agecomfort than other places. I gave these walking poles a try, and they are amazing as the previous comment says. I can walk further with these poles, which has improved my overall well being. I am diabetic, and getting exercise is important to keep the blood sugar in balance; however, I wasn’t getting enough exercise because I couldn’t walk as much, but with these I am able to get enough walking done without struggling. I love my walking poles! And thanks agecomfort for having them for a reasonable price!

I have had back issues for several years and was unable to walk as I had been used to doing almost every day for 20 years. When I saw these poles I decided to order myself a pair, take them to the beach in Mexicio and make myself try it for the days that I was there. WHAT A MIRACLE!! They really really do work. After 5 weeks, I had lost 9 inches and felt like a million dollars - I went from going half a mile a day to over 5 miles!!! AMAZING. They are fun to use, very light to carry in your suitcase - I just fell in love with walking with them, both on the sidewalks and on the beach.
